Gito Gito Hustler "Gito Gito Galore" CD
The first domestic release from this Tokyo-based female four-piece. Gito Gito have toured the U.S. multiple times in the past few years and have gained a huge (and much deserved) following in the process. Fast, poppy, sing-along rock and roll that you can listen to with your mother. This is a six song EP and is a great introduction to the Gito sound.

Guitar Wolf

26 tracks of some of the greatest Guitar Wolf songs ever recorded. This anthology spans the band's entire 18 year career and includes rare, out of print, and previously unreleased material. Some of the disc's hightlights include tracks off of the long out-of-print Matador releases "Jet Generation" and "Missile Me", the songs featured in Wild Zero. Guitar Wolf "LoveRock" CD or LP
One of the greatest rock and roll bands in history. No joke. Guitar Wolf play furious, high distortion, stripped down rock and roll in its purest form imaginable. Clad in matching black leather jackets and pants, Guitar Wolf, Bass Wolf, and Drum Wolf have been the forerunners of "Jet Rock" since they formed in 1987. You may have seen them fighting alien zombies in Wild Zero (the DVD of which is for sale below). Loverock is their eighth album and is 17 tracks in length. The LP is on orange vinyl beneath a heart-shaped die-cut cover, very nice.

Guitar Wolf "UFO Romantics" CD

Wild Zero DVD
Guitar Wolf star in this Japanese rock 'n' roll zombie horror classic. A must-see for fans of leather jackets, buckets of blood, laser guitar picks, and romance! Hoahio
"Ohayo! Hoahio!" CD
Sophomore release from this all-star female three piece. Formed in 1997, Hoahio features vocalist Haco (ex-After Dinner), renowned koto virtuoso Yagi Michiyo, and sampler manipulator Sachiko M. 10 tracks that range from comfortable minimalism to the jarring avante-garde.

The Hot Shots "Wise Up, Watch Out" CD
Down-home Japanese rockabilly with female vocals. Recorded in Burbank at Ecco-Phonic Studios by the legendary Deke Dickerson, master of the double-neck guitar, this album rocks with authentic '50s production and sound.

I Excuse
"...is dead" CD
Formed in Kyoto in 2000, I Excuse are considered by many to be the most exciting band to come out of Japan in the last 10 years. Melodic aggro-punk whose influeces include Leatherface, Dag Nasty and Lifetime. This is their 2003 sophomore album released in Japan-only on Snuffy Smile.

The Jet Boys "I Wanna Die" 7"
The Jet Boys have been playing ear-blistering garage rock since 1995. Think Guitar Wolf with a tad less distortion. This is a 7" which means that its too big to fit in your CD player. And odds are you won't be able to hear it on your iPod.

Limited Express (has gone?)
"Live at the 101 Bar" CD
A super cheap live album recorded on their Samurai Koala tour throughout Australia in 2004. Here's a great description of LE(hg?)'s sound: "Fugazi battling Astroboy inside a giant strawberry coloured lava lamp". That pretty much sums it up. Australia release comes in a plastic sleeve with an awesome insert. Abstract pop at its best.

Limited Express (has gone?)
"Feeds You!" CD
Arising out of the infamous Kansai scene that brought us the likes of the Boredoms, Kyoto-based LE(hg?) are a young, three piece pop/rock/noise outfit with female vocals. "Feeds You!", their debut release, matches the speed and intensity of a Melt Banana record, but has a childlike innocence that makes it compulsively listenable. An eclectic, powerful album that has John Zorn's seal of approval.
